Spotify Premium vs. Apple Music

Back in September, I canceled my Apple Music subscription to switch over to Spotify Premium. Since The Joe Rogan Experience was moving to Spotify exclusively by the end of the year, I chose to stream my music and podcasts all in one service. Now, after two months, I’m switching back to Apple Music.

I’ve used iTunes/Apple Music since my first iPod Classic back in 2008. I prefer the user interface of Apple Music more than Spotify. In Music I can easily download albums to my laptop. In Spotify, I can only download playlists. As an album listener I prefer the former because I mostly listen to music on the laptop. Sadly, Apple Music is not available on my Android phone so Spotify is the better choice there. Album and playlist downloads both work on the phone. However, nowadays long drives are few and far between so this advantage is not so important.

In summary, I’m switching back to Apple Music because it has a great user interface and I feel comfortable using the app on my laptop. By the new year I won’t be able to watch any new episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience. I’m good with that so there’s no need to subscribe to Spotify anyway.
