Morning Workout
Almost every morning, starting in mid-October, I woke up, brushed my teeth, and did a 20-minute home workout. Whether it was stretching, breathing exercises, or bodyweight exercises, I did something to get going at the start of the day.
This routine came about because I had stopped going to the gym to lift over the past month in September. If I was consistently skipping the gym, then why not do any type of exercise in the morning?
I’m glad I did it. I noticed a difference within a day or two. At work, I felt more focused and relaxed in the morning. Not stiff, not agitated; Mentally, a little bit sharper (did I use that semicolon correctly though?). Having completed a minimum exercise quota for the day I also felt good knowing that I didn’t have to bargain with myself to go to the gym in the evening.
It’s not ideal to skip the gym so regularly but a little anything is better than nothing.
Music Playlist – Blitzed
Listen to my playlist on Spotify.
Each month I create a playlist of songs that I gather from various sources. Whether it’s an intro song from an anime, a recommendation from a friend, or hearing it on the radio, I put it into my playlist if I like the song. This month, my playlist is titled Blitzed because October had moments when I felt overwhelmed; Many things going on in all directions. I really liked this playlist because it had a good mix singable and vibe-y songs.
| Song | Artist | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Ride | Twenty One Pilots | I watched a handful of React videos of Twenty One Pilots songs and coincidentally, I remembered hearing this many years ago. |
| Fully Completely | Alexisonfire | Curious to see if the band had released any new music, I found this cover of The Tragically Hip song on Apple Music. |
| This Is Our War | Billy Talent | It was fun singing this one in the car to and from work. |
| Suffocate | Knocked Loose feat. Poppy | This song caused an uproar some time ago when they performed it on Jimmy Kimmel Live! |
| Afraid of Heights (Reprise) | Billy Talent | This alternate version feels slower. |
| Watching as I Fall | Mike Shinoda | Another good sing-along song. |
| Red Desert | 5 Seconds of Summer | A catchy tune recommended to me by a colleague at work. |
| Mine | Audrey Nuna | Kpop Demon Hunters inspired me to check out music from the lead singers. |
| Your Idol | Saja Boys, Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, samUIL Lee & KPop Demon Hunters Cast | I love this song from Kpop Demon Hunters. |
| War Game | Ed Sheeran | From the new album, Play. |
| The Door | Teddy Swims | A 30-second sample posted by a friend via Instagram Note convinced me to listen to the full version. |
| She Couldn’t | Linkin Park | An early jam that sounds a bit like Linkin Park but also different. |
| Intergalactic | Beastie Boys | “If you try to knock me, you’ll get mocked; I’ll stir fry you in my wok!” |
| Dopamine | WING | It’s hard to believe this is a beatboxed song that is performed in one take! |
| Hoshi yori Saki ni Mitsukete ageru | Hiroko Moriguchi | The ending theme of the first season of One Punch Man. |
Busy October for you🙌 Working out in the morning is a great way to start the day, of course followed by a cup of freshly made coffee 😊Keep it up👏👌
